Jean Itard (19th Century painting)

Short Summary

A child, known as the Young Savage of Aveyron, was found in the woods of Caune in France and captured by three sportsmen. He escaped from the people who had taken him in and lived a vagrant life in the mountains during a harsh winter. Eventually, he sought refuge in a dwelling and was sent to various places for care. In Paris, he generated curiosity but displayed wild behavior and lacked social and intellectual skills. Despite this, there were hopes of educating and rehabilitating him, and he was entrusted to the care of the author.
