Rolando Montessori (1925 – 1988), the third child of Mario and Helen Montessori, made a significant impact in spreading Montessori education across the United States[1].

Life and Career

Rolando left his native Europe for the United States at an early age in 1960, and by 1967, he had acquired American citizenship. He married Anne Dege, a daughter of German immigrants who had moved to the United States in 1900[1].

Rolando and Anne had one son, Phillip Montessori, who was born in 1962. Phillip continues his father's and family's legacy by leading the Montessori Corporation, an organization committed to promoting Montessori education across various social strata in the United States[1].
