Join the Global Montessori Community

Montessori education was born from a vision of peace: a belief that every child, in every country, carries within them the power to build a better world. Today, that vision belongs to all of us.

Our Global Montessori Directory invites Montessori schools, kindergartens, training centers, educators, researchers, and supporters from every country to come together in one shared international platform. Schools can register, present their work, share their educational mission, and become visible to families, teachers, and partners worldwide.

Alongside the directory, we are building a Global Montessori Wiki: a growing knowledge base about Montessori education, Montessori history, materials, practice, research, training, and the worldwide movement. English will serve as the main lingua franca, so the global community can work together easily — but our goal is to translate this knowledge into as many languages as possible, making Montessori wisdom accessible to every nation, culture, and child.

The wiki will also include public-domain writings of Dr. Maria Montessori, so that her original voice can continue to inspire teachers, parents, students, and educational leaders around the world.

Teachers are invited to register as well, build their professional portfolios, document their experience, share their projects, and use their profile when applying for Montessori positions internationally. This platform can become a living record of dedication, growth, service, and educational calling.

Montessori is more than a method. It is a movement for human development, dignity, independence, responsibility, and peace. By connecting schools and educators across borders, we can strengthen one another, learn from one another, and demonstrate to the world that education is one of the strongest foundations for peace.

Let us bring the global Montessori community together — school by school, teacher by teacher, country by country — and help build a more peaceful world through education.

Consult the User's Guide for information on using the wiki software.

Glossary of Montessori Terms

The Glossary of Montessori Terms is a collection of specific terms and vocabulary that are related to the Montessori method of education, primarily focusing on the theory and practice for children aged 3 to 6. The jargon used by Montessori educators offers a unique insight into child development as discussed by Maria Montessori. The 'Montepedia Glossary of Montessori Terms' originated from a glossary that was compiled by the late Annette Haines from the Montessori Training Centre of St. Louis, at the request of Molly O'Shaughnessy from the Montessori Centre of Minnesota. The reason behind the creation of this glossary was to supplement O'Shaughnessy's lecture at the Joint Annual Refresher Course that took place in Tampa, Florida, in February 2001.[1] The glossary has since been expanded and updated with additional 'Montessori Terms'.
